Reginald Hall was born in 1893 (Mildenhall Q4-1893 4A:737), son of Jonathan and Caroline HALL (née THRUMBLE).
1901 census...Aged 7, entered as Regnal, he was at Burnt Fen with his father Jonathan HALL [50] publican born Littleport; his mother Caroline [44] bornMildenhall and brother Ernest [21] horse keeper on farm, born Hockwold cum Wilton. He had 2 elder sisters Alice Maud [1882] and Mabel Constance [1886] 1911 census...Aged 17, farm hand, he was at The Pig and Whistle, Burnt Fen, with his widowed mother and brother Ernest (farm hand). His father had died in 1901. His sole legatee was his sister Alice Maud OAKMAN of Waterside, Ely. His other sister, Mabel was Mrs Jordan at Bridge Street, Loddon in 1919. By May 1919 his mother and brother Ernest had died early in 1918 which may have been the reason for Reginald having special UK leave from 25 February to 3rd March 1918. The date of his mother's death has not been found. |

Reginald enlisted in Lakenheath on 28th February 1916, placed on Reserve and mobilised on May 17th 1916 in Dover. He gave his age as 22 years and 178 days, a horseman from the Pig and Whistle, Burnt Fen. Next of kin, his mother Caroline Hall. He was 5 feet 9 inches (175.3 cm) tall, weighed 164 lbs (74.6 kg) and chest 39.5" to 42.5 (100.3 to 108 cm) He embarked from Southampton to Le Havre on 1st August 1916. Wounded by a shell splinter in the left buttock on 8th April 1917, he was admitted to No 5 General Hospital in Rouen on 10th April and evacuated to UK. He joined 145 Siege Battery in the field on 17th July 1917. Having had UK leave from 25th January to 7th February 1918, he was granted special UK leave from 25th February to 3rd March 1918. This was around the time of his brother Ernest's death . Reginald died of double pneumonia on 16th May 1918
